Store Setup

Build your About page and other pages

Add an About page, an FAQ, a size guide and more to your shop. Start from a template, build it from blocks, preview it exactly as shoppers will see it, then publish when you're ready.

Pages are the extra pages on your shop, like an About page, an FAQ or a size guide. You build each one from blocks, such as a banner, some text or a set of photos. Your work saves as you go, and nothing changes on your live shop until you publish.

Before you start

  • You need to be the owner or an admin. Staff can't build or publish pages.
  • Check your plan. Starter includes your About page. Growth and Scale include up to 50 pages. See Which plan includes what, below.
  • Fill in your store details first. The Visit us block takes your address and opening hours from them. See Store details and contact info.

Start your About page

If your store doesn't have an About page yet, the Pages screen shows a Start your About page card. It's the quickest way in.

  1. In the sidebar, click Storefront, then Pages. You can also click Pages on the Storefront design screen.
  2. Click Start your About page.
  3. ShopEazy starts the page with the story from your home page's About section (or your store description) and your brand tagline. It adds a What we stand for section, your real reviews and a button to your shop.
  4. Change anything you like, then click Publish.

Until you publish an About page, your store's /about address keeps showing the text from your home page's About section, exactly as before.

Add another page

  1. On Storefront → Pages, click New page.
  2. Choose a template: About, FAQ, Our team, Size guide, Wholesale or Lookbook. To begin with nothing on the page, click Or start with a blank page.
  3. Type a Page title, then change anything on the template to suit your shop.

Each page on the Pages screen shows a small picture of the page, its address and its status: Live, Unpublished edits or Draft.

Build the page from blocks

Under the Page title are your page's blocks. Each block is one section of the page.

  • Click Add a block to add a new one.
  • Click a block to open it and edit it.
  • Use the arrows to move a block up or down.
  • Open a block's … menu to Duplicate or Remove it.

A page can hold up to 30 blocks. Photos you upload in a block save with your draft automatically.

What each block does

  • Banner: a big heading, with a background photo if you want one.
  • Text: paragraphs, headings, lists and links.
  • Image and text: a photo beside some words. Choose whether the photo sits on the left or the right. Fill in Describe the photo. It's read aloud to people who can't see the photo, and Google uses it too.
  • Gallery: up to 24 photos, with captions if you like.
  • People: up to 24 people, each with a photo, name, role and a line or two about them.
  • Numbers: up to 6 numbers with a short label, like 2019 and Open since.
  • Values: up to 12 short points about what you stand for.
  • Questions: up to 30 questions and answers. Shoppers tap a question to open its answer.
  • Reviews: shows up to six of your best real customer reviews, chosen for you. It only uses reviews of four stars and up that include words, and never ones you've hidden in Reviews. You can't type anything into it, so customers can trust what they read. It shows nothing until you have reviews.
  • Button: a coloured band with one button. It can go to Shop, Contact, Home, another of your pages, or a link you paste in, such as https://wa.me/27…
  • Visit us: your address, opening hours and a map, taken from your store details. Change them there and the block updates.

Preview and publish

Your changes save by themselves as a draft. You'll see Draft saved under the title. Nothing changes on your live shop until you publish.

  • The right side of the editor shows your real storefront with your draft in it, exactly as shoppers will see it. Only you can see this preview.
  • Switch between desktop and phone to check both.
  • Click a block and the preview scrolls to it.
  • On a phone, switch between Edit and Preview.

When you're happy, click Publish. After that, the button says Publish changes. While a live page has changes you haven't published, it shows Unpublished edits.

Page settings

Click Settings in the editor. Settings save straight away. They don't wait for you to publish.

  • Address: your store address followed by /something. Use lower-case letters, numbers and single hyphens. A few addresses are already used by your store, like products, cart, checkout, contact and policies. If you change the address of a published page, links to the old address keep working and forward to the new one.
  • Where it's linked: choose In the menu at the top, In the footer, or both. You can also set Link text if you like.
  • Search and sharing: an optional title, description (up to 170 characters) and share image for search results and shared links. Leave them empty and ShopEazy uses the page title and the page's first words.
  • Delete page: removes the page for good. It comes off your site and its address shows "page not found". You can't undo this.

Your menus

On the Pages screen, Your menus shows your top menu and footer the way shoppers see them. Your store's own links, like Shop and Contact (and Policies in the footer), come with your store. Your pages sit between them, and you can nudge them left or right.

Which plan includes what

  • Starter: your About page.
  • Growth and Scale: up to 50 pages, from any template.

On Starter, the other templates show a Growth tag. Choose one to see what Growth adds, with a link to Business → Plan. If you move to a smaller plan, the pages you already have stay live and you can still edit them. You just can't add new ones. See Your plan, billing and platform fees.

Undo changes or take a page down

Open the … menu at the top of a live page:

  • Discard changes throws away your unpublished edits and takes the page back to what's live.
  • Unpublish page takes the page off your site. Its address shows "page not found" and it leaves your menus. Your work is kept as a draft, so you can publish it again any time.

Check that it worked

  • On Storefront → Pages, your page shows Live.
  • Open your shop and check the page's link is in your top menu or footer, where you chose.
  • Once it's published, the page is added to your shop's sitemap so Google can find it. See Get your shop found on Google.

If something goes wrong

The editor warns that shoppers can't see the page. Your online storefront is switched off, so shoppers can't see the page even once it's published. Check under Settings → Channels.

The other templates have a Growth tag. Starter includes your About page only. To add more pages, move to Growth or Scale under Business → Plan.

I can't build or publish pages. You need to be the owner or an admin. Staff can't build or publish pages.

The address I want isn't accepted. Use only lower-case letters, numbers and single hyphens. A few addresses, like products, cart, checkout, contact and policies, are already used by your store, so pick another.

/about still shows my old text. Your About page isn't published yet. Until it is, /about shows the text from your home page's About section. Open the page and click Publish.

The Reviews block is empty. It only shows real reviews of four stars and up that include words, and not ones you've hidden. It fills in once you have some.

My live page still looks the same. If it shows Unpublished edits, your latest changes are still a draft. Click Publish changes.
