Payments & Billing
Your plan, billing and platform fees
What each ShopEazy plan costs, how the platform fee on your sales works, when your card is charged, and where to see everything you've been billed.
ShopEazy charges two things: a monthly or annual plan subscription, and a platform fee on each sale. Both go on the card you add under Plan & billing. They're never taken out of your payouts from your payment provider.

Your free trial
New businesses get a 7-day free trial of Growth, and you don't need a card to start. Three days before it ends, a banner appears in the console and we email the owner. When it ends, choose Growth to keep everything, or Starter. If you don't choose, your business moves to Starter, your console becomes read-only and your storefront goes offline until you subscribe. Nothing you made is deleted.
See your plan
Open the menu under your name, click Business, then Plan & billing. You can also press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) and search for "Plan & billing".
The page shows your plan and its status (Free trial, Active, Cancelling, Payment needed, Cancelled or Trial ended), your renewal date, your card, and how many seats, stores and listings you're using.
Only the business owner sees the buttons to subscribe, change plan, update the card or cancel. Admins and staff can look but not change anything.
Subscribe or change your plan
- On Plan & billing, click Change plan.
- Choose Monthly or Annual, then pick a plan.
- Click the button at the bottom. What it says depends on your situation, as below.
Continue to payment shows if you're on a trial or your subscription has lapsed. Enter your card in the secure form (it says Secured by Peach Payments). We charge the plan straight away and your subscription starts today.
Upgrade and pay shows if you're moving to a pricier plan. We charge the difference on your whole bill, add-ons included, for the rest of your current period now, and you pay the new price from your next renewal. Your renewal date stays the same.
Move to Starter on (date) shows if you're moving to a cheaper plan. Nothing is charged, and you keep your current plan until the period you've paid for ends. Changed your mind? Pick your current plan again before then to keep it.
You can only move down to a plan your business fits. If you have more team members, stores or listings than the smaller plan allows, remove or archive some first. Archived listings don't count.
Pages work differently. If you move to a smaller plan, the pages you already have stay live and you can still edit them. You just can't add new ones. See Build your About page and other pages.
How renewals work
On your renewal date, we charge the card on file automatically for your plan plus any add-ons, and your subscription runs for another month or year. To change the card, click Update card. Saving a new card runs a quick R1 check that's released right away.
To stop, click Cancel next to Cancel subscription. You keep full access until the end of the period you've paid for, then your console becomes read-only and your storefront goes offline. Click Resume before then if you change your mind.
Platform fees
The platform fee is a percentage of the order total your customer paid, at your plan's rate. There's no fixed amount per transaction.
- It applies to every paid order in your store, including ones you mark as paid yourself, such as cash or EFT. That includes orders customers pay by bank transfer at checkout. It's a fee for selling on ShopEazy, not a card processing fee, so it's the same however the customer pays.
- When you refund an order, the fee on the refunded amount is reversed.
- Fees are added up per calendar month and charged in arrears to the same card as your subscription, early in the following month.
- If a month's fees come to less than R50, we don't charge them. They carry over and are added to a later month once the total reaches R50.
- Your payment provider's own processing fees are separate. They're set by the provider and you pay them to the provider.
We'll give you 30 days' notice before changing platform-fee rates.
Where to see what you've been billed
ShopEazy doesn't issue downloadable invoices. Because we aren't VAT registered, we can't issue tax invoices either. Your billing records live in three places:
- Billing history on Plan & billing lists every billing event: subscribing, renewals, plan changes, card changes, add-ons, cancellations and failed payments, with the date and amount.
- Platform fees on Plan & billing lists each month's fee invoice with its transaction count, total and whether it's Due or Paid. It only appears once you have a fee invoice. Months under R50 don't show on their own, because they're rolled into a later month.
- The Money page, set to Business (charges), lists what ShopEazy has actually charged you this month.
Add-ons
The Add-ons section on Plan & billing lists the extras you can buy on your plan. On Starter that's Custom domain and 100 more listings, R99 a month each. Growth and Scale include your own domain. Switching one on charges you for the rest of the current period straight away, and the full price joins your renewal. You need a card on file first. On a free trial, switching one on starts your subscription instead: we charge your plan and the add-on together. If you switch one off, it keeps working until your next renewal.
On Growth and Scale, More room on Plan & billing adds team seats (R49 a month each) and stores (R149 a month each). Adding is charged for the rest of the period straight away. Removing takes effect at your next renewal.
If something goes wrong
"That didn't go through. Please try again." The card payment failed. Check the card details or try another card.
"Something went wrong. If you were charged, contact support." We couldn't confirm the result with the card processor. Check your bank statement before trying again, and email support@shopeazy.co if you were charged.
I can't see Change plan or Update card. Only the business owner can manage billing. Ask the owner to sign in.
