Orders & Fulfilment

Deliver orders yourself, by zone

Set the areas you deliver to yourself and what each one costs. Customers in your zones see your own delivery at checkout, and you run the day from the Shipping page.

You deliver is for orders you or your own driver take to the customer. You draw zones, give each one a price, and customers inside a zone see "Delivered by" your store name at checkout. No courier account needed.

Did you use to charge one flat fee? Your store was moved to You deliver with one zone called Everywhere, at the same price, with the same free delivery amount. Customers pay exactly what they did before. Checkout also doesn't show a delivery day for it until you switch that on.

Set up your zones

  1. Click Settings in the sidebar, then Delivery.
  2. Under At checkout, click You deliver.
  3. Turn on I deliver orders myself.
  4. Under Zones, add the areas you deliver to (see below) and type a price for each.
  5. Set your delivery days under When.
  6. Click Save.

Back on Settings → Delivery, the You deliver row shows how many zones you have and On.

The first time you open the page, it suggests three Distance zones with starting prices, or one Everywhere zone at your old flat fee. Change them to suit you.

The four kinds of zone

Add a zone with the buttons under the list: Distance, Suburbs, Postal codes or Everywhere. Give each one a name. Customers never see it.

  • Distance: everywhere up to a number of km from your store, measured in a straight line. It needs your store address picked from the address search, so ShopEazy knows where you are. Each ring shows how many of your recent deliveries fall inside it.
  • Suburbs: a list separated by commas, like Sea Point, Green Point. Spelling, spaces and capitals don't matter.
  • Postal codes: single codes or ranges, like 8005, 7440-7449.
  • Everywhere: anywhere no other zone covers. You can only have one.

If an address fits more than one zone, the most specific wins: a suburb first, then a postal code, then the smallest distance ring, then Everywhere.

Prices and extras per zone

Click More next to a zone for:

  • + Price by order value: for example, orders under R300 pay R60, and bigger orders pay the zone's main price.
  • Free over R: free delivery in this zone above this amount.
  • Minimum order R: smaller orders can't be delivered to this zone.
  • Same-day cut-off: a different cut-off for this zone.
  • Delivering to this zone: untick it to pause the zone without deleting it.

When you deliver

  • Delivery days: the days you go out. Monday to Friday unless you change it.
  • Same-day cut-off: orders placed before this time, like 12:00, can go out the same day. Leave it empty for no same-day delivery.
  • Earliest delivery: Same day (before the cut-off), Next day, In 2 days or In 3 days.
  • Show the day at checkout: shows customers the day they'll get it, like "Tomorrow".
  • Free delivery over: free delivery in every zone above this amount, unless a zone sets its own.

Test an address before you save

Under Check an address, type any address and an order amount. You'll see which zone it lands in, why, the price and the day. It uses your unsaved changes, so you can try things out first.

Using couriers too

If a courier is connected and set to charge its live price, You deliver sits beside it. A Past your zones setting appears:

  • Use my couriers: addresses outside your zones get courier prices.
  • Don't deliver: customers outside your zones can't choose delivery.

With a courier on, it starts on Use my couriers. Choose Don't deliver if you only deliver inside your zones. See Connect The Courier Guy or PUDO.

What customers see

At checkout, once a customer enters an address inside a zone, they see Delivered by your store name with the price (or Free), and the day if you show it. It's listed first, above any courier prices.

Outside every zone, with no courier taking over, they see "Your store doesn't deliver to suburb." and can't place a delivery order there. If the order is under a zone's minimum, they're told the amount it needs to reach.

You deliver is door to door only. Locker deliveries always go through a courier.

Do the delivery

Paid orders you deliver yourself show on the Shipping page (in the sidebar), under To send. Unpaid orders don't show until they're paid.

  1. Open Shipping. On the To send tab, orders you deliver show You deliver, with the promised day if there is one.
  2. Click Run sheet to print every stop with the customer's name, address, phone number and items. Click Route in Maps for Google Maps directions from your store through each stop (up to 10).
  3. When you leave, click Out for delivery on each order. If only your own deliveries are waiting, Out for delivery · 3 at the top sends them all at once. The customer gets an email saying their order is on its way today.
  4. On the On the way tab, click Delivered when it's handed over. The customer gets a delivered email, and the order moves to Delivered.

If you couldn't deliver it, click Couldn't deliver, type what happened (for example "Nobody home"), and click Save. It stays under On the way with your note. When you go out again, click Try again.

You can do the same steps from one order's page in the Shipping hub, under You deliver this one. More on the hub in Use the Shipping hub.

If something goes wrong

"Add a zone you deliver to, or switch this off." You turned on I deliver orders myself with no zones, or with every zone paused. Add or unpause a zone.

"Pick the days you deliver." Every day under Delivery days is off. Turn at least one on.

"Give every zone a name." Fill in a name for every zone.

Customers get free delivery in a zone you meant to charge for. A zone with an empty price saves as R0, which is free. Type the price and click Save.

"Give “Zone name” a distance between 1 and 500 km." Distance zones need a number of km from 1 to 500.

"Add at least one suburb to “Zone name”." or "Add at least one postal code to “Zone name”." Type at least one suburb or postal code, or remove the zone.

"“1234x” isn’t a postal code or range (7441, or 7440-7449)." Postal codes are four digits. Ranges use a dash between two codes.

"“9am” isn’t a time like 12:00." Type cut-off times in 24-hour format, like 12:00 or 15:30.

"Only one zone can be “Everywhere”." Remove the extra Everywhere zone.

Distance zones don't match anyone. The page says "Distance needs your collection address picked from the search, so we know where you are." Pick your store address from the address search under Settings → Store details. If a courier is connected, pick it under Sent from on Settings → Delivery.

"This order isn’t paid yet." Orders go out for delivery only once they're paid.

"This order is booked with a courier." A courier collection is already booked for this order. Cancel that first, or let the courier deliver it.
