Connect The Courier Guy or PUDO

Link your own Courier Guy or PUDO account so customers see real delivery prices at checkout. You paste one API key and ShopEazy checks it before saving.

schedule6 min read

Connect a courier and your customers see the real delivery price to their own address at checkout. You use your own account with the courier, and the courier bills you for every waybill. ShopEazy never charges you for delivery and never takes a cut.

Right now you can connect The Courier Guy and PUDO. You can connect both. Other couriers in the list show Soon and can't be connected yet.

Before you start

  • An account with the courier. It's free to open, and you pay the courier per parcel. If you don't have one, the connect screen has an Open an account button.
  • Access to the courier's portal as the account owner, so you can create an API key.

Connect your courier

  1. Click Settings in the sidebar, then Delivery.
  2. At the top of At checkout, click Add a courier. If you have no courier yet, you can also click Connect a courier under No courier yet.
  3. Pick The Courier Guy or PUDO.
  4. Follow the steps on screen to get your key (see below), then paste it into Paste the key here.
  5. Next to This is a, choose Real key or Test key to match the key you pasted.
  6. Click Connect The Courier Guy or Connect PUDO.

ShopEazy checks the key with the courier before saving it, so a wrong key is caught now, not at your first sale. You'll see Checking your key… while it does.

Real key sends real parcels and bills your account. Test key is for trying it out, with no real parcels.

Getting your Courier Guy key

  1. Sign in to the Courier Guy portal as the account owner. The Open The Courier Guy button takes you there.
  2. Open Integration on the left, then Create API key.
  3. Copy the key and paste it into ShopEazy.

Getting your PUDO key

  1. Sign in to your PUDO dashboard. The Open PUDO button takes you there.
  2. Open Settings, then API Keys, and create a key.
  3. Copy the key and paste it into ShopEazy.

Switch on courier prices

Connecting a courier doesn't change what customers pay until you say so.

  1. On Settings → Delivery, go to Prices.
  2. Under Couriers charge, choose Their live price.
  3. Fill in If a courier can’t price it. Customers pay this when no courier answers, so keep it set.
  4. Under Your parcels, set Products with no size: pick a box and enter a Weight.
  5. Click Save changes.

More on these settings in Set up delivery and collection.

Check that it worked

  • The courier shows as a row under At checkout with On. The line under its name says Driver collects (or where you drop off) and your balance with the courier, if it shares one. A test key shows a Test badge.
  • Add something to your cart on your own storefront, go to checkout and enter an address. You should see courier prices.

Set up what each courier does

Click the courier's row to open its page. The top says Live account or Test account and when you connected it.

  • Offer it to customers: turn it off to pause the courier. It shows Paused, keeps your key, and its prices stop showing at checkout. Turn it back on any time.
  • What to use it for: Door-to-door and, for couriers with lockers, Lockers. Turn one off to use a different courier for it. With everything off, the courier won't quote at all.
  • How you hand parcels over: turn on I drop parcels off if you take parcels to a locker or kiosk instead of a driver collecting. Prices then start from a locker or kiosk, which is usually cheaper. ShopEazy picks the nearest point to your address. Click Change to pick another or search by suburb, town or postal code. When it can work it out, it shows roughly what dropping off saves per parcel.
  • Add to this courier's price: a percentage for packaging and handling on this courier only. Leave it empty to use your store's usual markup.

Click Save changes when you're done. The pause switch saves straight away.

Lockers are covered in Send orders to lockers.

Faster tracking updates (optional)

The courier's page shows a web address under Faster tracking updates. Paste it into your courier portal under Settings → Webhook subscriptions to get tracking updates sooner. If you skip it, ShopEazy still checks for tracking updates every hour.

Disconnecting a courier

Open the courier, click Disconnect, then Disconnect again to confirm. ShopEazy forgets your key, so bookings and live prices through that courier stop. If it was your only courier, customers outside your You deliver zones get your flat fee instead. Your account with the courier isn't touched.

To change a key, disconnect and connect again with the new one.

If something goes wrong

"The Courier Guy didn’t accept that key. Copy it again from The Courier Guy and paste the whole thing." The courier refused the key. Copy all of it again and paste it. PUDO shows the same message with its own name.

"That’s a test key. Choose “Test key”, or paste a real one." You pasted a test key with Real key selected. Pick Test key, or paste a real key.

"That’s a real key. Choose “Real key” and connect again." The opposite: pick Real key and click connect again.

"We couldn’t reach The Courier Guy just now. Try again in a minute." The courier didn't answer. Your key wasn't rejected. Try again shortly.

The row shows Key missing. ShopEazy no longer has a working key for that courier. Disconnect it and connect again.

The balance says "running low". Your prepaid balance with the courier is under R200. Top it up with the courier, or bookings may fail.

Checkout still shows the flat fee, not courier prices. Check that Couriers charge is set to Their live price and the courier row says On, not Paused. Also check Products with no size is set. When no courier can price a parcel, checkout charges your If a courier can’t price it fee.

I can't choose Their live price. It says Add a courier first until a courier is connected.

I'd rather someone did this for me. On the connect screen, click Ask us to set it up. We'll email you and help you through it. If you see "Add a support email in Settings → Store so we can reply to you.", add a Support email under Settings → Store details first.
