Payments & Billing
Connect Yoco to your shop
Take payments through your own Yoco account on your ShopEazy shop and at your till. Where to find your keys, what to paste, and what the errors mean.
Connect your Yoco account and shoppers can pay by card on your shop, and by Scan to pay at your till. Already selling with a Yoco card machine? Use the same Yoco account: you don't need a new one.
ShopEazy never holds your money. Shoppers pay Yoco, and Yoco pays you out on the terms you have with them. You pay Yoco's fees on your own account, and ShopEazy's platform fee per online sale depends on your plan.
Before you start
- A Yoco account. Your Checkout API secret key. It lives in the Yoco App, not in Yoco's Developer Console.
- Owner or admin access to your ShopEazy business. Other team members can't connect or remove a payment provider.
- Your email inbox. Connecting a provider asks you to confirm it's you with a 6-digit code we email you.
What your shoppers can pay with: Cards.
Connect Yoco
- In ShopEazy, click Settings in the sidebar, then Payments. You can also press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) and search for "Payments".
- Under Ways to pay, find Card via Yoco and click Connect. Already have a provider connected? Click Add next to Add a way to pay and pick Yoco.
- Follow the steps in the drawer, below.
- Click Connect Yoco and enter the code we email you.
Step 1: Open Checkout API in the Yoco App
- Open the Yoco App and go to Sales → Online → Checkout API.
- Copy the secret key. It starts with
sk_live_, orsk_test_for a test key.
Step 2: Paste the secret key
- Secret key: paste the key that starts with
sk_live_orsk_test_.
Step 3: Verify your store for live keys
Yoco only accepts live keys once it has verified your shop's web address. The connect drawer shows your shop's addresses with a copy button next to each. Add them in Yoco under Verified Domains. You don't need to do this for a sk_test_ key.
When it works, Yoco shows under Ways to pay with an On badge, and your shop starts taking payments through it.
Check that it worked
Yes. Connect a sk_test_ key first and place a pretend order. Your Yoco page in ShopEazy shows a Test keys label until you swap in your live key.
Click Manage next to Yoco on the Payments page to see Live at checkout, your Payments · 30 days and Recent payments.
If something goes wrong
"Paste your Yoco secret key." The box was empty. Paste the key from Checkout API.
"That’s a Developer Console key. Use the sk_live_ key from Checkout API." You copied a key that starts with yoco_live_. That one comes from Yoco's Developer Console and can't take payments. Go to Sales → Online → Checkout API in the Yoco App instead.
"That’s the public key. Use the secret key (sk_live_…)." You copied the key that starts with pk_. Copy the secret one from the same screen.
"Yoco secret keys start with sk_live_ or sk_test_." Something else got pasted, or the start of the key was cut off. Copy it again.
"Yoco didn’t accept that key. Copy it again, in full." Usually part of the key went missing in the copy. Copy the whole key again.
Yoco shows "Not in use" Your shop charges through one card provider at a time. If another provider was connected first, checkout keeps using it. Disconnect that one to switch to Yoco.
For problems shoppers see at checkout, see Fix payment provider and checkout problems.
Good to know
Refunds go back to the shopper's card straight from the order in ShopEazy, with a live key. Yoco is the only provider where ShopEazy can do that.
Your secret keys are encrypted when you save them, and ShopEazy never shows them again.
To disconnect, open Yoco from Settings → Payments and click Disconnect. We ask you to confirm, then forget your keys. If Yoco was the one at checkout and another provider is connected, checkout switches to it. Otherwise shoppers can't pay by card until you connect one again, so connect the new one first if you're switching.
