Payments & Billing
Connect a payment provider
Link your iKhokha, Yoco or Peach Payments account so customers can pay by card on your storefront. Takes about five minutes if you have your keys ready.
Your storefront can't take card payments until you connect a payment provider. ShopEazy doesn't hold your money. Customers pay into your own merchant account with that provider, and the provider pays you out.
Don't want a payment provider? You can let customers pay by bank transfer straight into your bank account instead, or as well. See Take payments by bank transfer (EFT).
Before you start
You need three things:
- A merchant account with a supported provider. If you don't have one yet, see "Don't have a merchant account yet?" below.
- Your API keys from that provider. Each provider section below says which keys you need.
- Owner or admin access to your ShopEazy business. Other team members can't connect or remove a provider.
Right now you can connect iKhokha, Yoco and Peach Payments. PayFast, SnapScan, PayGate, Ozow and Stitch are listed under Coming soon and can't be connected yet.
Your storefront takes card payments through one provider at a time. If you connect more than one, only one of them is used at checkout. It shows Live at checkout, and the others show Connected · not in use. So connect just the one you want customers to pay with.
Connect your provider
- Click Settings in the sidebar, then Payments. You can also press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) and search for "Payments".
- Under Card payments, find Already have a merchant account? and click your provider. If you've already connected one and want to add another, click Add at the top of Card payments and pick the provider.
- Paste your keys into the form. The fields differ by provider, so check the section below.
- Click the connect button, for example Connect iKhokha.
When it works, the provider shows under Card payments with a green Live at checkout badge, and your storefront starts taking card payments through it. The strip at the top of the page then says customers can pay by card.
Your secret key is encrypted when you save it, and ShopEazy never shows it again. If you lose it, create a new key with your provider and connect again.
Where to find your keys
iKhokha
You need an Application key and an Application secret.
- Sign in to your iKhokha dashboard and create an API key. iKhokha gives you an Application ID and a Secret key.
- Paste the Application ID into Application key.
- Paste the Secret key into Application secret.
Keep the secret key somewhere safe when iKhokha shows it to you. If you lose it, create a new API key.
ShopEazy checks your iKhokha keys with iKhokha when you click Connect iKhokha, so a mistyped key is caught before your customers ever see it.
Yoco
You need your Checkout API secret key. It's easy to grab the wrong Yoco key, so check carefully.
- Open the Yoco App.
- Go to Sales → Online → Checkout API → How to connect.
- Copy the secret key. It starts with
sk_live_(orsk_test_for test mode). - Paste it into Checkout API secret key in ShopEazy.
ShopEazy refuses:
- a key starting
yoco_live_. That comes from Yoco's Developer Console and can't take payments. - a key starting
pk_. That's your public key, and ShopEazy needs the secret one.
Live keys need a verified domain. Yoco only unlocks live keys once it has verified your shop's web address under Verified Domains in Yoco. Until then you can connect a sk_test_ key to try things out. Your Payments page then shows Checkout API · test mode, and no real money moves.
Peach Payments
You need four values from your Peach dashboard. All four are required.
- Entity ID: your Checkout entity ID
- Client ID
- Merchant ID
- Client secret
Paste each one into the matching field and click Connect Peach Payments.
ShopEazy doesn't check Peach keys when you connect, so a typo only shows up when a customer tries to pay. Place a test order straight after connecting (see below).
Don't have a merchant account yet?
If you haven't connected a card provider, the Card payments section shows New to card payments? Open a free iKhokha account. Click Sign up with iKhokha to open iKhokha's sign-up page. The iKhokha connect form has a Sign up link too. When iKhokha approves your account, come back and click Already signed up? Connect iKhokha, then paste your keys as above.
While you wait, you can switch on bank transfer (EFT) so customers can still pay you. See Take payments by bank transfer (EFT).
For Yoco or Peach Payments, sign up with them directly.
Check that it worked
- On Settings → Payments, your provider shows Live at checkout.
- Click the provider. You'll see Connected, the date you connected it, and a Recent payments list.
- Place a small order on your own storefront and pay for it. It should appear under Recent payments once the payment goes through, and the order shows as paid in Orders.
iKhokha has no test mode, so a test order through iKhokha is a real card payment. Refund it from your iKhokha account afterwards.
If something goes wrong
"Yoco didn't accept that key. Copy the full secret key again from Checkout API → How to connect." Usually part of the key got cut off when you copied it. Copy the whole secret key again and paste it in.
"That's a Yoco Developer Console key (yoco_live_…)." You copied the wrong Yoco key. Follow the Yoco steps above to find the sk_live_ key.
"That's your public key (pk_…)." Copy the secret key from the same Yoco screen instead.
"That doesn't look like a Yoco Checkout API secret key." The key doesn't start with sk_live_ or sk_test_. Check you copied the secret key, and that no extra characters came with it.
I can only get a `sk_test_` key from Yoco. Yoco hasn't verified your domain yet. Add your shop's web address under Verified Domains in Yoco, and connect with the test key in the meantime.
An error appears when I connect iKhokha. iKhokha turned the keys down. Check that the Application ID is in Application key and the Secret key is in Application secret, not the other way round. If you're not sure you have the right secret, create a new API key in iKhokha.
My provider is listed under "Coming soon". We don't support that provider yet. Connect one of the live providers for now, or switch on bank transfer (EFT). You can switch later.
For more problems, including errors your customers see at checkout, see Fix payment provider and checkout problems.
Changing or removing a provider
Open the provider from Settings → Payments and click the disconnect button, for example Disconnect Yoco. It happens straight away, with no second "are you sure" step. Your storefront stops taking payments through that provider immediately, so connect the replacement first if you're switching.
Payments that already went through stay on their orders and on your Money page. Your keys are deleted, so you'll need to paste them in again if you reconnect later. If a customer is halfway through paying at the moment you disconnect, that order may not be marked paid automatically. Check your provider's dashboard and your unpaid orders afterwards.
