Offer extras like warranties, upgrades and gift wrap

Let shoppers add a warranty, an upgrade or an extra when they buy, each with its own price. Set one up once and put it on any product, service, event or tour.

Customisations are extras a shopper adds when they buy: a longer warranty on a bed, extra cheese on a burger, a parking bay with a concert ticket, a photo pack on a tour. You set one up once, put it on as many listings as you like, and its price is added to the order. They're on every plan.

A customisation is a heading and a few choices. For example, Warranty with 2 years +R399 and 5 years +R799. Shoppers see the choices on the listing's page, and the total on the button goes up as they pick.

Customisations or variants?

Use variants when the shopper is choosing which one they're buying, like a size or colour, and each one has its own stock. Use customisations for extras that go on top, like a warranty, gift wrap or toppings, especially when they apply to many listings. A bed can have sizes as variants and a warranty as a customisation.

Make a customisation

  1. In the sidebar, go to Catalogue → Customisations.
  2. Click New customisation, or pick one of the ideas under Start from an idea and click Use this. An idea fills everything in, so you only check the prices.
  3. Under Heading on your shop, type what shoppers will see, like Warranty or Extras.
  4. Under Choices, type each choice and its price. Leave the price empty for a free choice. Click Add a choice for another.
  5. Under How many can shoppers pick?, choose One (like a warranty length) or Any number (like extras).
  6. For One, switch on They must pick one if the listing can't be bought without a choice. For Any number, you can set a Limit, like three toppings.
  7. Check the On your shop preview, then click Create.

Next you're asked where it shows. Tick the listings, or use Select all in… to tick every product, service, event or tour, or everything in a category. Then click Save.

Add one while you're editing a listing

You don't have to leave the listing you're working on.

  1. Open a product, service, event or tour.
  2. In the Customisations section, click Add a customisation.
  3. Pick one you've already made, or click Create a new one.
  4. Save the listing.

To take one off a listing, click the × next to it and save.

Charge a different price on some listings

A choice's price is the same everywhere until you change it. A warranty on a king bed can cost more than on a single.

  1. On the listing, in Customisations, click Change prices for this listing.
  2. Type the price for this listing next to each choice. An empty box keeps the normal price, which shows faintly in the box.
  3. If the listing has variants, ticket types or fares, switch on Different price per variant (or ticket type, or fare) to set a price for each one.
  4. Save the listing.

Prices are per item. Two tickets with a parking bay charge for the parking bay twice.

What shoppers see

On the listing's page, each customisation shows its heading and its choices, with the price next to each. A One choice that isn't required says Optional. A limit shows as Up to 3. If a choice is required, the button asks for it before it adds anything to the cart.

The picks show under the item in the cart, at checkout, on the order confirmation and in the order email. On your side, they're under each line on the order, on the receipt and in the WhatsApp message.

Change, pause or remove one

  • Edit: click Edit on the customisation. Changes show on every listing it's on.
  • A choice runs out: in the editor, click the eye next to it to Mark sold out. Shoppers still see it, crossed out, and can't pick it.
  • Stop offering it: click the ⋯ menu, then Archive. It comes off your shop everywhere, and past orders keep what was bought. Restore brings it back.
  • Change which listings have it: click Change listings.

Other ways orders come in

  • Orders you create yourself: when you add an item on a new order, its customisations show as choices under the line, and the price includes what you pick.
  • WhatsApp: WhatsApp's own cart can't carry customisations. If a product has a required choice, the shopper is sent to its page in your shop to pick. If all its customisations are optional, it sells at its normal price.
  • The ShopEazy app: selling at the counter doesn't have customisations yet. An item with a required choice can't be sold from the app for now, so take that order in the console.

If something goes wrong

"Not on any listing yet — shoppers can't see it" The customisation isn't on anything. Click Add to listings next to it.

"Give it a name, like “Upgrades” or “Extras”." The heading is empty. Type what shoppers should see above the choices.

"Add at least one choice." Every customisation needs at least one choice with a name.

"Check the price of “…”." A price isn't a number, or it's below zero. Type the amount in rand, like 399 or 49.90.

A shopper sees "That option for “…” is no longer offered." Something they picked was archived, marked sold out or taken off the listing after they added it to their cart. They need to remove it and pick again.

It's not showing on a listing Check the customisation isn't archived and that it's on that listing. Open the listing and look in Customisations.
