Domains & connections
Connect your own domain
Put your shop on a web address you own, like shop.yourbrand.com. You add the Custom domain add-on, save your domain, then add one DNS record at your registrar.
Every shop gets a free address like yourshop.shopeazy.co. If you already own a domain, you can use it for your shop instead. ShopEazy issues and renews the security certificate for you, and your own address appears on your links, invoices and emails once it's working.
Before you start
- Included on Growth and Scale. On Starter it's an add-on. Your free trial runs on Growth, so it's included while you trial. It stops if the trial ends on Starter without the add-on.
- On Starter, the Custom domain add-on. It costs R99 a month, or R990 a year if you pay annually. It covers your whole business, not one store.
- On Starter, a card on your account. The add-on is charged to your saved card.
- A domain you own, and a login for the company you bought it from (your registrar). You'll add one record in its DNS settings.
- Owner or admin access to the ShopEazy business.
Step 1 (Starter only): Add the Custom domain add-on
- Open the menu under your name and choose Business.
- Open Plan & billing.
- Under Add-ons, find Custom domain and click Add.
- Check the price in the confirmation, then click Add it.
You pay for the rest of your current billing period straight away, then the full price from your next renewal.
If it shows Needs a card, add a card to your account first.
Step 2: Save your domain in ShopEazy
- In the sidebar, click Settings, then Channels.
- Next to Online storefront, click Manage storefront.
- Under Domains, type your address into Your own domain, for example
shop.yourbrand.com. - Click Save changes.
You can paste a full link. ShopEazy strips off https://, any page path and a leading www.. So https://www.yourbrand.com/ is saved as yourbrand.com.
A subdomain likeshop.yourbrand.comis usually the easiest choice. It leaves your main website and email atyourbrand.comuntouched.
Step 3: Add the DNS record at your registrar
After you save, the Domains section shows the exact record to add, with a Type, Name and Value. Each has a copy button. Copy them from there rather than typing them.
What you'll see depends on the address:
- A subdomain (like
shop.yourbrand.com) gets a CNAME record. - A bare domain (like
yourbrand.comoryourbrand.co.za) gets an A record with the name@. - Sometimes there's also a TXT record, with the message "Add the record below so we can confirm" that the domain is yours. Add it as well. It proves you own the domain.
Sign in to your registrar, open the DNS settings for your domain and create each record exactly as shown. Save it there.
If ShopEazy says "There are already records on that name that will fight this one — remove them first.", delete the old records for that name at your registrar before you add the new one.
Step 4: Wait for it to go live
DNS changes can take a few hours to spread. ShopEazy checks your domain on its own about once an hour, or you can click Check again under the record.
Until the domain is live, your shop keeps working on its ShopEazy address, and every link ShopEazy sends out still uses that address.
Check that it worked
- Under Domains, you see a green message saying your domain "is live — your shop answers on it, and links use it."
- Open your domain in a browser. Your shop loads with a secure padlock.
- Your
shopeazy.coaddress keeps working too.
Removing or changing your domain
To stop using your domain, clear Your own domain and click Save changes. You can always remove a domain, even if your add-on has ended. To change to a different domain, type the new one and save, then add the new record at your registrar.
If you switch the add-on off, or move to Starter without it, it ends at your next renewal. When it ends, ShopEazy disconnects your custom domain and your shop goes back to its shopeazy.co address.
Changing your ShopEazy address (the .shopeazy.co part) is also done here. Be careful: any link you've already shared to the old address will stop working.
If something goes wrong
The Your own domain box is greyed out, with "Your own domain is an add-on." You're on Starter without the Custom domain add-on. Click See what it costs and follow Step 1.
"That doesn't look like a web address — try shop.yourbrand.com." Check for typos or spaces. Type only the address, with no email or extra words.
"shopeazy.co addresses are set above — this is for a domain you own." You typed a shopeazy.co address. Change that in the ShopEazy address field instead.
"That address belongs to a hosting provider, not to you." Addresses ending in .vercel.app can't be used. Use a domain you bought.
Saving fails with an error. Another shop may already use that domain, or you may not have owner or admin access. Ask the business owner to try, or email support@shopeazy.co.
"We couldn't check" your domain "just now." ShopEazy couldn't reach the service that checks domains. Your shop still works on its ShopEazy address. Click Check again later.
It's been a few hours and it still isn't live. See Domain not connecting for the common causes.
